Kanab United Drug

Well, here it is. The pharmacy! A beauty isn't she? She's not much on the outside, but then again, not on the inside either. Ha! This baby seriously needs some attention. We're working on it, but we have to get the business on its feet first.

Dave has been working 7 am till 11 pm - give or take an hour from each end depending on the day. It's crazy. He'll come home for dinner and see us for an hour or two around 7 pm, so that helps. It's been rough though. Really rough. Buying a pharmacy is not for sissies for sure. It's just like having a baby actually. It needs round the clock attention for quite a while and you lose lots of sleep and forget your life as you knew it. Then, eventually, it can stand on its own and there's less minute by minute maintenance. And by then you've put so much hard work (and money!) into this baby that you can't, and don't want, to imagine life any other way. At least we hope we feel this way soon!

So for those of you wondering why baby #3 hasn't yet come along, you now know: she has. And it's a girl! We've been birthing this baby for 10 long months and now we get to take care of this infant. I have big plans to make a corner of this shop all Kelly and have home decor items for sale. I think it'll really help the atmosphere of this little sterile feeling box.

I'm also excited that we have a small health foods section. So I can buy my specialty food from myself, and pay a little less. Bonus! I am coming in with Luke to the store while Easton's in afternoon Kindergarten. Sometimes Luke helps work, nap, play, watch a video. He's awesome. THen I can help work the orders, front end, misc. jobs jobs from Dave. It's kinda nice actually. I feel valuable again. Don't get me wrong. Being a SAHM, I think, is most important. But I have to admit, I like the escape of leaving that role for a couple hours, wearing something other than sweats, and being appreciated. Being a SAHM is the hardest job, I think. It doesn't come naturally and it's certainly not easy. Through this I'm realizing the balance needed in one's life to happy. Putting my selfish desires on the back burner so my family can be healthy and happy, but making some time each day to pursue me.

Well, sorry for that last tangent. It's late. I look forward to having 'after' pictures to show someday :).

You're totally right Lisa, I agree. When we have an especially tough day we look at each other and say someday-this'll all be worth it :)

You guys are so awesome. Brandon looked over my shoulder and caught the hours that you guys are working, and couldn't believe it, he was SO impressed. I know you are amazing at whatever you do, so this store is going to be amazing. I think you doing a spot in the corner is a super idea, SO fun. And I hear ya about the stay at home mom stuff, i'm at the point right now where I feel SO not appreciated just a doer... so i'm very happy for you that (although very hard i know!) you get to go contribute somewhere else for a bit of your days. BEST OF LUCK in your new business baby!!! :) Lots of love from Lehi!!
