On the road

For the most part we had a really great time driving across the country (again) to get to the mild, wild west. This time we took the northern route rather than the southern, so that was neat. Despite it's bad rap, I still think West Virginia is an absolutely gorgeous state, and no I didn't see any smurfs on the way.
Kentucky is so lush and pretty with horses all along the way. We stopped in Louisville to see some friends that Dave baptised on his mission there. We really wish we could have stayed longer with them. We also visited the Louisville Slugger museum/factory. We were able to tour and see how the bats are made and then we all received a mini bat as a souvenier! I recommend it! Not too short or long and right off the freeway downtown. Beautiful city to see, also.
We were lucky enough to stop in Indianapolis to see some friends who moved there last year. Sorry, Anne, I was born in Ft. Wayne and I still have to say that Indiana is not a pretty drive. But, we loved seeing their gang in their pretty home. Thanks for dinner and letting hang out! Isabel, Olivia, and Katie are great entertainers (4 year old triplets!) and had lots of giggles to share while Cannon is a year now and cuter than I ever imagined! So glad Evan got home early for us too:) Minnesota was a wonderful mid-point for us. We took a week respite and visited my folks. If you've never been to the mosquito state, I mean Land of 10,000 Lakes, I highly recommend it - in May. I love MN and the wonderful lakes and parks and kazillion things to do. Easton had so much fun with his grandparents, and great-grandparents. He laughed and giggled like crazy every time he heard and airplane fly overhead (they're many and low at my parents house). I visited a designers showhouse with my mom, redecorating and enjoyed bike rides. SO much fun. We also saw a Twins baseball game (they won!) where Dave enjoyed the Minnesota specialty of a footlong hotdog. And we got to visit the Como Zoo and Conservatory. I love that zoo. After leaving Minnesota the last fun thing we got to do was see Mt. Rushmore. That was a wonderful stop. There's surprisingly lots to do and worth the time. It is amazing and fascinating to behold. Easton loved all the flags leading up to it best, though, I think. (no surprise) That was cool. Each state's flag is hanging to usher you in.

And that pretty much concludes our journey. Maybe I can start catching up with the present now...;)
