For those who aren't familiar or are too lazy to look it up, Kanab is on the border of Arizona and Utah. We're 5 minutes north of AZ, 80 minutes east of St. George. It's a smaller town of about 4,500 people. Small enough that we don't have a Walmart, big enough to have 2 good size grocery stores and all needed amenities. It's a very tourity town so there's lots of fast food, restaurants and hotels. We're within an hours drive of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon. Beautiful here!!!
I took this picture when we first got here. It was really stormy the first week here and there was lots of lighting and rainbows that week. This picture was taken off our back deck around sunset. What a view from our windows! I have learned a few things about living in the desert. One, take lightning seriously. No puddle jumping for these kiddos! Second, you age more quickly here. I already have more wrinkles-seriously. The dry weather and hot sun pound ya. (I'm sure lots happier though.) Third, Granny was right when she said you don't leave home without a shotgun. We've already encountered a rattlesnake, lizards of all sizes, bugs bigger than quarters, and tarantulas. The bug man is on speed dial, the boys are in heaven.
Well, I think that's a decent first post to acclimate you with our new town. We all have adjusted and really love it here. I plan to organize my pics soon so that I can post more on our house, and Kanab in general for you.
