I finally spoke with Easton's allergist the other day, and she had good news! His numbers were really really low, which means that his chances of outgrowing his allergies are very good. We have experimented a bit in the past with allowing him some things with milk, and our allergist agreed that we should continue. Example: He's snagged a few Goldfish crackers from other kids in nursery before, and hasn't had any problems resulting from it. But then he had some banana bread a while ago and a couple hours later he had a red bottom (usually the result from allergies - I refuse to go through his poo to look for blood).
So, is it the quantity that he eats? Or perhaps the crackers are so processed and cooked that the milk proteins are mostly gone, whereas the bread is fresh and the quantity of milk is higher.
He also tested positive for other nuts as well as peanuts, so she recommended we stay clear of all nuts for a while longer. That's fine with me, and easily enough done. Those numbers were low as well so I'm not concerned.
We'll continue on and look forward to seeing what he is able to handle and if it changes.
