Master Bedroom

Since I'm letting it all hang out(see next post), I decided to show you the rest of my bedroom. I realized you don't care if it's 'finished', and it probably will be a while before it is. So, refer to my last MBR post for bed pics and here's the rest.

This is looking into my room to the right when you walk in.
This is to the left when you walk in.
This is the door to the hall on the right and our awesome(not really) master bath on the left. Notice the perfect placement of the intercom system right in the middle of the center wall. Stupid builders. Really.
I love birds and this little guy on my dresser makes me happy in the morning. Don't worry, I'll be getting rid of the lovely faux flowers in the vase next to him. I told you, this room is a work in progress.

The background information: I purchased my dressers and night tables as a set at an auction in Richmond, on a complete whim, late one night with my sister when she was visiting. I thought Dave would kill me. Lucky me he expects this kind of rashness from me and liked it. It's solid mahogany and built to last, obviously. I loooove it and knew I could easily find a bed to go with it anywhere. (It came with a bed, but being old it is full sized and little. But, it did find a home in our guest room.)

Before we moved I decided to get a grown up bed. I was still working at Ethan Allen, albeit very part time, and was lucky enough to still get my employee discount, so I went ahead and bought one! Everyone seemed very surprised that I would choose this one (a bit more formal/sophisticated than I usually buy) of all that we carried, but I knew I'd love it and it'd be perfect. And it is! In my job a majority, it seemed, of my clients never got their grown up bedroom furniture until their kids flew the coop. I can see how it easily happens and I knew that'd be us if we didn't take advantage when we did.

Here's my lamps.

I found these at a yard sale 2 years ago. They were $3 for both. They're milk glass and the perfect proportion, especially since my night tables are quite small. And the right height. That can be a difficult combo to come across.

The shades are terrible, I know, but it's not as easy to replace as you'd think. Trust me, I've been trying for a year-and-a-half. I did replace the finials, though. I got these from 2 lamps that I sold at a yard sale before we moved. Great finials are the final detail of a lamp that I always pay much attention to.

I guess it's a good thing I posted all this before I finished. I forget how long winded I can be sometimes.

What a great room Kelly! I hope you still have those cute bird pictures too ( you know, the ones in your old hall bathroom). I can't wait to see more of your house projects. :)
