Elephants on Parade

We finally took the plunge and painted the house (inside) last week. I thought I could enjoy bright, fresh, simple, ivory-colored walls. But, alas, I need more. So after much, much debate I found 2 colors. A lighter shade for overall and a darker shade of the same color for the kitchen. We hired my sis's boyfriend to help out. He finished half the living room (keep in mind there are vaulted ceilings) and I freaked out. At first I thought I might pass out but instead chose to just cry. It was horrible! It seriously looked like elephants on parade in my LR. Sooo gray. All it needed was hairs and a trunk. You can't tell from the pics but they are both very taupe. (I knew I should've made the extra drive to Ben. Moore)After tons of anxiety and serious contemplation I went with the darker color for everything. I was super frustrated b/c: 1) if I've ever picked a bad paint color I don't remember it and 2) I have no design-wise friends here to ask for help or a second eye. Lonely feeling for an interior designer. I miss you gals!! In the end it turned out perfect and I love it. It's exactly what I wanted and envisioned. It really feels like home now.

The photo with edging around the door is the bad color. I went with the more brown-taupe on the right. We'd love to see you anytime!!!
