Ready for the latest? I'll try to keep it brief. Last weekend we went to southern Utah to visit the grandparents. On the way home Easton had another allergic reaction. Luckily we were near Richfield and were able to find their hospital and get him some help. We did have an epi pen with us, but to be honest, I thought it was an asthma attack. He hadn't been diagnosed with asthma yet, but I was suspicious.
Turns out he's not only allergic to peanuts but walnuts as well. (he had eaten a cookie with walnuts a few hours previous) We saw the allergist Tuesday and had him tested, (concidentally he had a waiting appointment made for that day) and she confirmed those. We'll get the blood tests back next week to know if there are any other allergies.
I had no idea that an allergic reaction can take place up to 4 hours after exposure. I also didn't fully realize that a common first sympton of a reaction is coughing. I thought you swell up and it's visually apparent. I'm glad that I know what a reaction entails, how to treat it, and now we know how to prevent it. Much less worried in our house.
Now we focus our worries on asthma. The allergist confirmed that Easton has asthma as well, and so uses an inhaler daily to regulate. I can't help it. It worries me crazy at night when he's coughing. I can't sleep till I know he's ok. I guess that's motherhood for you though, right? The inhaler is helping, though, and so far we haven't had any night disturbances. We've been very blessed with health (and helpwhen needed) in our home.

I"m so glad you found out what it is he's allergic to, and how to recognize the symptoms. He's such a fun little guy, and we love having him over to play.
Oh my gosh! Well, at least you are finding out now.
Are there any other nuts he's allergic to (almonds, cashews)? I don't know why, but I'm not a fan of walnuts. He is still over the milk allergy, right?
Yep, milk's over with. (whew!) Not sure about other nuts or anything else yet. Keep ya posted though!
