Outdoor Furniture

I bought this old, vintage, totally cute and fun outdoor table and chair set at a thrift shop in Virginia. It was love at first sight. Despite Dave's hesitation I snatched it up for $65. I ate up the roses on the chair tops and the yellow paint competing with years of rust in just the right places. After one bad reupholstering job I needed to try again. The first time I used this plastic stuff I found at Wal-Mart for about $3 to cover the chair seats. After a full year in the sun and snow the covers cracked and were worthless. This time around I was smart and bought some oilcloth to cover the seats in. Perfect choice. Weather and fade proof. Here's my mini-tutorial for those of you that won't consider recovering chairs. The easiest thing in the world. So easy I took pictures.

Dave cut out new chair bottoms from some thin wood for me. (the old ones were deteriorated) I bought 1" foam by the yard from the fabric/craft store. I ordered my oilcloth online. This took about 2 weeks to arrive. I found quite a number of sites selling oilcloth, but they all seemed to have the same selection. I think I found the best deal, here.

Just staple the cloth on, and you're almost done!
I had Dave attach the seats to the chairs since I'm not very good with power tools. Now it's bright and fresh and fun, and according to Dave, "soooo girly." Perfect!

Oh, and here's a shot of our back patio, finally completed. It was done last fall but I never posted pics before the snow came.
