Ice Fishing Escapades

Are you the person who whenever you hear about or go ice fishing you always wonder if the ice is going to crack and you'll fall in? Well, it happened. To me. Today. Can you believe it? Ok, you almost should. I did fall in the water, but not that tragically. Sigh of relief, I know. (Drama's always more intersting.)
We were out on the ice and decided to sled down the hill onto the ice for some fun while waiting for a bite. I went down once and it went so slowly I decided to bring Easton on the next run. I picked him up at the bottom of the hill, apparently at teh edge of the water, and all the sudden was in water up to my knees! Water had filled my boots and all. It was freezing! My feet were numb even before I could get my boots off. My fears of dying in cold water are now confirmed. It's very possible. And, it would happen pretty quick. We were too far from the truck and I had nothing to protect my feet except beanie caps so Dave had to pull me back on the sled. I bet for a second there he was wishing he'd married a 90 pound waif. Now I truly know he loves me. :) Hey, at least I had a recent pedicure so my feet looked pretty through it all. And isn't that what's important?

Besides that it was a beautiful morning and so fun. Easton loved it and was so tired he fell asleep on the sled on the way back. (The boys went out again after they dropped me off.) Even though there were no bites, it was good.

Kelly, you just gave me a good laugh. I love the way you tell stories. I'm so glad you only went in to your knees. What an amazing husband you have. It must run in the family.

Oh how SCARY!! It sounds like it was a memorable family outing. I hope it ended with some hot cocoa. I'm glad you had the camera there on the ride back to distract you from how your feet felt.
