I did it!! Saturday I ran my first ever race, a 10k. It was so much fun and I am proud of myself for finally doing it. Running 6.2 miles wasn't as bad as I had led myself to believe; I'm sure it helped that it was fairly flat, too :). Considering my lack of serious training, I feel like I did super great. Ok, I know you want the stats. I finished in...drumroll please...1 hour, 2 minutes, 40 seconds!! Ugh - 2:40 over! Oh well. Next time I'll wear a watch and see if that helps. Out of about 20,000 runners I came in about 8,800th place. I wonder if they did that according to time or crossing the finish line...(there were about 15 groups that started at different times. I was in one of the last ones) The best part was seeing my great hubby and cute kid cheering me on at mile 5.

It was a nice run on Monument Ave. Lots of blossoming trees, big, old houses, and, of course, monuments to occupy my eyes with. There was also lots of bands playing and people cheering.
my friend becca and me after the raceThanks so much to my training gals and Liz for sticking with me during the run. Let's do it again soon. Lisa - I missed you. Some other time, though. You inspire me!
